Barcode Scanner Technology

As part of her product design project at Glasgow School of Art, Anna McCahon has asked us here at Sew Vintage to introduce a new concept within the vintage clothing industry. If you love all things vintage and are an avid techno-kid, this is for you.

Here's how it works: Anna has produced unique barcodes for a selction of our vintage clothing, to be scanned using your smartphone. Upon scanning, a history of the item will appear on your phone, giving you the specific background to the piece. Not only giving you the specific era the piece derives from, you will find out when the item has been worn in the past, and by whom.

This innovative piece of technology is something we find very exciting, as alot of our items we have for sale here at Sew Vintage have been sourced from unusual and interesting places - so we love the idea of passing this information onto you at your leisure.

So, the next time you're browsing around our boutique, grab your phone and scan away - you'll be surprised at what you can learn!

Sew Vintage Re-Launch!

WE'RE BACK BABY!

After a very unfortunate start to the year, we're SO pleased to tell you that Sew Vintage is back in business.

So, for those of you who don't know, here's the saga.....

We were enjoying a lovely (and much needed) few days off over the Christmas period when Santa brought us a late gift of a burst pipe in the building. Not quite the end to Christmas Day we were expecting, but a good few laughs were had in the face of adversity. The combination of gushing water, icey pavements, the Gourock Fire Brigade, slightly tipsy helpers and a whole shop to de-cant was rather amusing. Freezing our wee vintage tooshies off, the shop was gutted and left in a sodding mess.

BUT, look at us now. Almost 2 months to the day and we're back on our feet. The shop is looking better than ever with a brand spanking new decor and we have gorgeous stock filling our shelves - all handpicked and revamped to the highest standard.

A few changes have taken place, which overall gives the shop a more homely feel - a place to shop, lounge and relax. We have a new seating area with comfy leather couches, where you can take a gander through the latest fashion magazines, or even have a cuppa with us if you wish. There's a specific 'Handmade and Customised' rail, housing the Molly Pippins range, alongside one-off customised vintage pieces. As ever, we whole heartedly support local, independent designers and crafty types, so we have handmade jewellery from the likes of Oui! Designs, Rachael Emily Parker and Carrot Coriander, and beautiful fascinators and headpieces by Simply Stitched.

We're planning to add a new dimension to the business, which will be revealed in the next few weeks. We want Sew Vintage to be Gourock's hub of crafts and handmade innovation - and it all revolves around you.
